Hemp Global Solutions
A average total of 11.26 tonnes of atmospheric CO2 is absorbed per hectare of Industrial Hemp.
Hemp Development Fund
The HDF has been set up to promote and expand the hemp industry. Our aim is to invest in R&D, end users and infrastructure to make hemp more competitive in the global market place.
Accurate Validation
Biomass is produced by the photosynthetic conversion of atmospheric carbon. The carbon uptake of hemp can be accurately validated annually by calculations derived from dry weight yield. This yield is checked at the weighbridge for commercial reasons prior to processing.
Highly accurate figures for total biomass yield and carbon uptake are obtained and made available as soon as we have them, giving a level of certainty not available through any other direct carbon offset product.

A Balanced Approach
Hemps' incredible versatility is down to the fact that all of the plant has value. The leaves and seed have enormous nutritional value while the both the woody and fibre parts of the stem, can be used to make raw materials. In order to utilise these valuable resources, hemp needs primary and second processing infrastructure.
At present In the Uk there is still limited end uses for hemp, mostly for horse-bedding. The fibre is exported mainly to Germany to make paper, insulation and various car parts for Mercedes, BMW and Audi. For examply every Mercedes car uses 16kg of hemp panelling.
However, with the right research and development, investment and technology there are numerous end uses for this wonder plant. Our aim is to create and invest in all the stakeholders within the hemp industry - from the growers to the end sellers. Hemp is a true gift from Mother Nature and we believe it should not be controlled by any big business or corporation. HGS works on the cellular principle that everyone has a part to play thus creating a successful end result where everyone benefits.
Carbon Subsidy
We believe one of the most important stakeholders in the Hemp industry are the farmers. At present there are no subsidies for growing hemp which makes it a less profitable crop to grow. We are therefore, offering a carbon subsidy of £50 a hectare - 50% of any money raised by carbon offsetting. We believe that its only when farmers are given a legitimate stake in the hemp industry that the industry itself can expand and grow.
The other 30% of the carbon offsetting will go into R&D, business investment, technology investment, lobbying, promoting and expanding the hemp industry here in the UK and abroad. The final 20% will go to administration and salary costs. Our vision is to see a planet full of hemp fields and creating materials that no longer cost the earth.
According to the IPCC between ten and fifteen percent of total global cropland is available for biomass production specifically for energy (and transport). This adds up to about 1.2 billion hectares of suitable land for growing hemp. It has been estimated that 90,000ha of hemp creates an immediate use value of heating and cooking fuel for 500,000 households.
*Offset depends on yield and end use - yields and end uses may vary.
